In general terms, terpenes contained in cannabis are typically not "bad" because they belong to the plant's natural chemical make-up and contribute to flavour and the effects of cannabis. However, when vaping or dabbing concentrate with a high amount of terpenes, or using terpenes derived from very poor quality sources or additives, or when a person has an asthma condition or has a scent sensitivity, the risks of using cannabis terpenes are more pronounced than with using cannabis flowers.
