The standard drug test will include a panel for substances that include the metabolic products of THC but not for terpenes. Therefore, pure terpenes cannot cause a typical cannabis drug test to show a positive result. However, products with terpenes may contain THC and “full-spectrum” products will likely test positive for cannabinoids as well.
